Production and sale of authentic African culinary sauces (yassa, mafé, thiébou base) in premium jars, enabling a Senegalese dish to be cooked in 15 minutes at home or abroad.
The Problem
Urban Senegalese and diaspora members want to eat the dishes of their childhood but lack the time or sometimes the skills to prepare a thiéboudienne or mafé that requires 2 to 3 hours of cooking. Existing industrial sauces (Maggi, Jumbo) are full of flavor enhancers and don't capture the authenticity of family recipes. The Senegalese diaspora spends significant sums in African grocery stores in Europe on often poorly fresh ingredients with no authenticity guarantee.
The Opportunity
The global premium sauces and condiments market grows at 6% per year, driven by enthusiasm for authentic ethnic cuisine. The African diaspora in Europe represents over 10 million people ready to pay 6 to 12 euros to rediscover the taste of home. Dark kitchens and African caterers in Europe are looking for consistent-quality sauce bases to industrialize their production without a permanent chef.
The Concept
SénéSauce produces a range of 6 100% natural culinary sauces (no artificial preservatives, no colorings) in 350g glass jars: Thiébou Base (tomato, pepper, smoked guedj), Yassa Sauce (caramelized onion, lemon, mustard), Mafé Base (peanut, tomato, spices), Caldou Sauce (lemon, mild chili, vegetables), Dibi Paste (grilled spices, onion), and Soupe Kandia Sauce (okra, palm oil). Each jar contains the base for 4 people with a simple recipe card. Distribution covers Dakar (supermarkets, fine food stores), diaspora export to France and Italy, and African dark kitchens in Europe in 5kg professional format.
The "Secret Sauce" (USP)
- Recipes certified by Senegalese grandmothers: each sauce is co-developed with 3 reference traditional cooks — guaranteed authenticity and powerful storytelling on each jar
- 5kg professional format for dark kitchens: African caterers in Europe can produce 50 yassa portions by opening a single jar — high-margin B2B market with recurring orders
- QR code video recipe: each jar contains a QR linking to a 3-minute video with the grandmother explaining how to finish the dish — unique emotional experience that creates loyalty
